Architects meet as facilitators for the Middleport design festival

Burslem and Middleport Local Forum and the facilitators for the Middleport Community Design Festival, met today to review site plans (see below). Some of the architects included CTD, Croft Architecture Ltd, Wood Goldstraw Yorath &  Architect Solution.

Urban Vision North Staffordshire (UVNS) the lead and urban design partner in the project chaired the meeting. The accountable body for Design Council CABE, and UVNS will provide expertise guidance on local neighbourhood planning at the event, in line with their work as the national advisers to Locality (http://locality.org.uk/resources/neighbourhood-planning-roadmap-guide/).

HACT will have a stall and provide information linked to ‘community led housing’, about getting organised and opportunities for the use of community rights.

The festival Friday 22nd & Saturday 23rd March 9.30 – 4pm each day will be held at St Paul’s Church Middleport Stoke-on-Trent ST6 4BY. There will be inspirational talks, including Bill Dunster of Zedfactory and a Dragons Den made up of local stakeholder, who will select the winning design.

The event is FREE and open to local people and organisations. On the Saturday (only) there will be a FREE fringe event for family’s including face painting, stalls, crafts etc. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Refreshments can be purchased at the fringe.
